Best Brownie Recipe

Ah, brownies. Duke and I gained 20 lbs EACH when we were dating and engaged because we made brownies almost every night around 9 or 10 PM. We love brownies THAT MUCH. :) In all this time, I have been an avowed box-brownie-mix user, because it seemed like the ones I made from scratch never really worked out the same. Ghirardelli is my favorite brand- the double chocolate ones. Well, I recently found this recipe on AllRecipes.com, and it's JUST as good- if not better. I present it to all of you, so you can enjoy it, too. :)

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 3 cups white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips*

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13 baking dish.
  2. Combine the melted butter, sugar, and vanilla in a large bowl. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each, until thoroughly blended.
  3. Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually stir the flour mixture into the chocolate mixture until blended. Stir in the chocolate morsels. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  4. Bake in preheated oven until an inserted toothpick comes out clean, 35 to 40 minutes. Remove, and cool pan on wire rack before cutting.
*Note: I add 1 cup of milk chocolate chips in addition to the semi-sweet. It's much better that way.

These are especially good fresh out of the oven with vanilla ice cream and a hot fudge sauce. You know, if you wanted to get REALLY decadent.
